ACEP offices and the BP Design Theater were showcased after a ribbon-cutting event formally opened the Engineering Learning and Innovation Facility on Friday, Dec. 8.

University of ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ Fairbanks Chancellor Daniel M. White, UA President Jim Johnsen and College of Engineering and Mines Dean Doug Goering joined BP, ConocoPhillips ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ and Usibelli Coal Mine officials, along with design and construction contractors, to perform the ceremony.

Afterward, a self-guided tour of the building allowed attendees to explore the ELIF, which features a highly visible 48-foot-tall high bay for large projects, a strong floor for testing extremely heavy items, a cold room, 40 new laboratories, office spaces and the BP Design Theater.

As part of the celebration, a ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ mechanical engineering senior design team demonstrated technology in the BP Design Theater.

ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ built ELIF with significant private-sector contributions, including major donations from BP, ConocoPhillips and Usibelli Coal Mine.
