Joint Appointment Links ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ and CCHRC through Energy and Sustainability
Tom Marsik started a joint position this summer with the University of ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ Fairbanks and the where he will continue his work on energy and sustainability solutions for ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ.
Marsik has an M.S. in Electrical Engineering from the Czech Technical University in Prague and a Ph.D. in Engineering from ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ. He has served on high profile committees, including Governor Bill Walker’s Transition Team and its Consumer Energy subcommittee, and has earned honors including ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ’s Top Forty Under 40 award and a recognition from the World Record Academy for designing and constructing the world’s tightest residential building on record.
Marsik is the Research Director at CCHRC and an Associate Professor of Sustainable Energy for the ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ Bristol Bay Campus and ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ Center for Energy and Power. He is currently involved in a wide range of topics revolving around electrical and thermal efficiencies of buildings; his latest project deals with linear LED lighting technology.
