Growing Food With Wood Energy – First in the Webinar Series

Don’t miss the first installment of ACEP’s Arctic Community Energy Webinar Series. “From Biomass to Lettuce: Edible Energy Integration in Southeast Ӱ” will feature the Southeast Island School District’s biomass-heated greenhouses.

Karen Petersen, biomass coordinator with Southeast Conference, will talk about how Ӱ schools are tackling energy and food security using biomass boilers.

provides a great case study for the future of biomass use and value-added use of waste heat. Along with converting to wood heat, the district is establishing greenhouses at each school and involving students in every aspect of growing food. Other Ӱ school districts are copying the model.
