ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ

chancellor-from
Vice Chancellor Evon Peter has announced his plan to pursue new opportunities and passions effective June 30, 2020.

Vice Chancellor Evon Peter was appointed by Chancellor Brian Rogers in July of 2014. He has been an innovative leader whose compassion and vision have grown the statewide impact of the Community and Technical College and the College of Rural and Community Development, even in the face of declining budgets. While leadership of CTC and CRCD have been a significant part of Evon’s responsibilities, his broader role at ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ as an ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ Native leader has helped guide ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ’s strategy to promote programs and services critical to our ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ Native students, staff and faculty. Evon’s leadership at ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ has advanced many ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ wide initiatives and programs, particularly those that have helped make ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ a place rich with ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ Native culture and understanding.

As Chancellor, it has been my privilege to have Evon as part of ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ’s core leadership team and he will be missed. However, I know that, as a ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ alum and passionate supporter of ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ’s important work in ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ Native and Indigenous studies, Evon will not be far away. I am also confident that as we continue to pursue the Troth Yeddha' Indigenous studies center, Evon’s influence will be felt in many ways.

We will begin a search for his replacement in the coming weeks. We will seek a leader whose passion for rural, community and Native education will advance ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ’s strategic initiative to solidify our global leadership in ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ Native and Indigenous studies.

My deep gratitude to Evon for the many ways that he has made ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ and those around him better as Vice Chancellor at ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ.

— Dan White, chancellor
