Week 9 – Spring Break!

Spring break is finally here – let’s go! You’ve made it to a well-earned pause in the semester, and that’s something to celebrate. However you’re spending your break, I hope you’re getting a chance to recharge. Maybe you’re enjoying the quiet of a mostly empty residence hall, relaxing in a cozy cabin surrounded by snow, or soaking up some sun somewhere warm and tropical. Maybe you’re picking up extra shifts at work or spending quality time with family and friends. Whatever your plans look like, take a moment to step away from assignments, deadlines, and the daily rush – and give yourself some real time to reset.

Think of this week as your base camp before the final climb to the end of the semester. It’s the perfect time to refill your energy tank. Catch up with friends, move your body, get outside, and take advantage of the fresh air. Here in Fairbanks, we’re closing in on 12 hours of daylight, and the days are only getting brighter from here. There’s a lot to look forward to!

While you’re taking a break, campus life at ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ keeps moving. Our team is hard at work behind the scenes, making things even better for you. Admissions counselors are connecting with future Nanooks who are ready to start their own journey here, and our advisors are available and ready to help you plan – including getting ready to register for summer classes.

Looking for something fun to do during your break? Don’t forget to check out to discover awesome events and activities happening throughout the week. Whether you're looking to get out, try something new, or just connect with other students, there’s always something going on!

Enjoy the break, take care of yourself, and come back refreshed and ready to finish the semester strong. You’ve got this!

Let me know where you are and what you are doing for the break that has you excited!

As always, I’m at obguthrie@alaska.edu.

— Owen Guthrie, vice chancellor for student affairs and enrollment management
