Researchers reject geo-engineering as a climate-warming response

Proposals to reduce climate warming in the polar regions through geo-engineering rather than carbon emission cutbacks would be dangerous and ineffective, according to an international team of scientists that includes two from the University of ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ Fairbanks. Read more from the paper.

Arctic Leadership Lecture Series: Fran Ulmer

Join Fran Ulmer, former chair of the U.S. Arctic Research Commission and longtime ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ leader, Sept. 11, from 5-7:30 p.m. for a conversation on leadership in the North. Ulmer has served as ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ’s lieutenant governor, chancellor of the University of ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ Anchorage, and adviser to U.S. presidents and secretaries of state on Arctic policy. She brings decades of experience at the intersection of science, governance and community, and will share reflections on leadership in ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ and across the circumpolar North.Ìý.
