Week’s events: Shellie Foint-Anderson, joint health, smart scrolling, bagpipes

University of Ӱ Fairbanks Summer Sessions and Lifelong Learning is hosting more than 40 free lectures, concerts and events this summer. Here’s what’s happening during the week of July 20-26:

  • On Monday, July 20, the Fairbanks Tall Timbers interview series will honor Shellie Foint-Anderson, public health nurse manager. The interview is at 7 p.m. in the BP Design Theater.
  • On Tuesday, July 21, the Healthy Living lecture series will host Nathan Marsh, orthopedic surgeon, discussing “Lifelong Joint Health: Motion as Medicine.” The lecture is at 7 p.m. in the BP Design Theater.
  • On Wednesday, July 22, the Discover Ӱ lecture series will feature Elizabeth Dawson and Genova Brookes Boyd, assistant professors of library science, presenting “Smart Scrolling: How to Consume News Without Getting Consumed.” The lecture is at 7 p.m. in the BP Design Theater.
  • On Thursday, July 23, the Music in the Garden concert series will present Sweet Fireweed at 6 p.m. and the Red Hackle Pipe Band at 7:30 p.m. at Ӱ’s Georgeson Botanical Garden.

All events are free and open to the public. Parking on the Ӱ Troth Yeddha’ Campus is free after 5 p.m.
