University of Ӱ Fairbanks Summer Sessions and Lifelong Learning is hosting more than 40 free lectures, concerts and events this summer. Here’s what’s happening during the week of June 15-21:
- On Monday, June 15, the Fairbanks Tall Timbers interview series will honor Willie Blackburn, school counselor, musician and actor. The interview is at 7 p.m. in the BP Design Theater.
- On Tuesday, June 16, the Healthy Living lecture series will host Shannon Smith, urologist, discussing “Urinary and Sexual Health: What You Should Know.” The lecture is at 7 p.m. in the BP Design Theater.
- On Wednesday, June 17, the Discover Ӱ lecture series will feature Fawn Carter, archivist, presenting “Stories from the Archives: Ordinary People in Extraordinary Moments.” The lecture is at 7 p.m. in the BP Design Theater.
- On Thursday, June 18, the Music in the Garden concert series will present the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Choir at 6 p.m. and the Clarence Pate Project featuring Willie Blackburn at 7:30 p.m. at Ӱ’s Georgeson Botanical Garden.
All events are free and open to the public. Parking on the Ӱ Troth Yeddha’ Campus is free after 5 p.m.
