Derek Miller
Chief of Staff
Derek Miller has served as the executive officer for the College of Engineering &
Mines since 2019 where he co-led strategic planning and execution efforts and advised
the Dean on fiscal strategy, operations, and organizational management. He has previously
served as the business office manager for the Institute of Northern Engineering within
CEM. Prior to that, he served as a senior business analyst in the ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ Office of Management
& Budget, assistant to the chancellor under former Chancellor Brian Rogers, and a
legislative aide in the ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ State Legislature.
Miller is a two-time ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ alumnus and a previous ASÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ president and student regent.
He earned both a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in business administration
from ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ.
