The Sick is named for the illness that infects those who struggle with addiction. These 45 artworks reflect 45 individual perceptions of addiction and substance abuse in our community.
According to the Health Analytics and Vital Records Section of the ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ Department of Health’s Division of Public Health published 2023 Drug Overdose Mortality Update released October 24, 2024, the number of drug-related overdoses in the state of ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ increased by 45% from 2022 to 2023.

ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ the Artist
Kevin Carroll is a dystopic surrealist working in pastel and oil. His work explores
poverty, addiction, and trauma. Using vibrant color schemes and a blending of natural
forms often seen in graffiti art. Carroll lives in Fairbanks, ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ, and graduated
from the University of ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ Fairbanks with his BFA in 2025.
