Field Safety Courses

Spring 2026 Field Safety classes

Most course fees are subsidized for ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ Researchers by ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ VC of Research. A Fund-Org is required for registration and a non-refundable registration fee is mandatory to enroll in one of these trainings.

Working in the field has a unique set of challenges and risks. At Outdoor Adventures, we recognize those hazards and have worked with researchers on campus to compile a variety of trainings that will give you the tools, tips, and tricks to help mitigate some of the risk associated with field work.

We offer a collection of courses in the Spring semester each year, partially funded by ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ Vice Chancellor for Research. Outside of these offerings, we are able to provide the same material, and many others, for an unsubsidized fee (season dependent) .

If you are looking for training for your team, please see our courses listed below and pricing. Please contact us if you are interested in coordinating a course for your group. Mark Oldmixon - mtoldmixon@alaska.edu or 907-474-6709

Course Fees

The course fees for these regularly scheduled programs are partially subsidized by a grant from the Vice Chancellor of Research. Unfortunately, due to financial limitations impacting the University, we no longer have the means to completely cover the registration fees for field safety trainings. Each course has a non-refundable registration fee ranging from $50 - $250, depending on the training in question.
