The EMERGE ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ (Enhancing Marine Ecosystem Research and Graduate Education in ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ) Program aims to enhance graduate education and marine ecosystem research in ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ, and contribute to a well-prepared workforce in the marine sciences. The program is anchored on four interactive components: academic training, research and innovation, professional development, and student success support. EMERGE ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ is housed in the College of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences (CFOS), which has three departments: Fisheries, Marine Biology, and Oceanography.

This program provides fellowships for applicants who received the distinction of NSF National Science Foundation Graduate Research Felloship Programs (NSF GRFP) Honorable Mention on or after Spring 2023. The fellowship provides full financial support for three years. The EMERGE ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ Program will award 12 PhD fellowships beginning in Summer or Fall 2026 and will continue to award fellowships until all slots are full. We are currently recruiting for Spring and Summer 2027. Applicants must apply through the National Science Foundation Education and Training Program (NSF ETAP) portal before applying to ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ graduate school.
