ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ Master Gardener Volunteers

ELLIGIBLE VOLUNTEER HOURS

Local organizations benefit from the garden-related activities and education provided by ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ Master Gardeners. The ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ Master Gardener Program only accepts a participant’s service hours that are:

  • Are completed at an organization that provides a public benefit;
  • Are related to gardening and horticulture;
  • Are NOT private/commercial businesses or for-profit organizations;
  • Do NOT engage in discriminatory practices; and
  • Are NOT out-of-state organizations. 


Examples of organizations that master gardeners volunteer include schools, municipalities, botanical gardens, community groups, faith-based organizations, hospitals, garden clubs, and similar not-for-profit organizations. 

Examples of activities that master gardeners engage in are gardening, educating others, or administration. They often take the following form:

Gardening:

  • Invasive Species Management
  • Native Gardens
  • Pollinator Gardens
  • Display/Beautification/Research Gardens
  • Community/Food Donation Gardens 

Educating Others:

  • Information Booth/Table
  • Teaching Program
  • Education Support
  • Answering Garden Questions


Administration (Must be related to horticulture/gardening):

  • Boards and committees
  • Fundraising
