Workforce Development
ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ Blue Economy Center has been working with a broad range of partners throughout the University of ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ
on blue economy-related workforce development, including the University of ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ
Southeast Applied Fisheries Program, the University of ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ Fairbanks Teaching Through
Technology Program, and Prince William Sound
College at the University of ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ Anchorage, among others.
In 2024, this work resulted in the publication of the , which
recommended, among other things, the development of a "glidepath" whereby ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñn
K-12 students are introduced to mariculture, and provided with additional opportunities
for learning. In 2025, ABEC presented on some relevant and resulting work at the annual
meeting of the American Fisheries Society (AFS) annual meeting
in San Antonio, Texas, where AFS and Content With Purpose launched their "Tomorrow’s
Catch: Securing our Future Fisheries" series. ABEC and partners were featured as part

Prince William Sound College (PWSC) is a one-of-a-kind institution of higher education
located in Valdez, ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ. The main campus and its extension sites in Cordova and
Copper Basin are set amidst some of the country’s most breathtaking scenery and rich
